Many years ago before I started HotRun I worked with a consultant that would threaten candidates if they took a counter offer they would be fired by their employer in less than a year. He used to guarantee it and raise his voice before he got off the phone with the candidate and say "Counter offers Bad!". We just shook our heads at him and thankfully he's no longer in recruiting but I have to admit he was on to something.
